Sisters by Heart

Celebrating a treasured friendship of sharing and understanding

I'm very close to my sisters, and the friendship and support of other women has always enriched my life. I also realize that there are friends or other relatives that may not be blood sisters, but share this same type of closeness.

Your Stories Tell Us Your Story

My best friend started my collection for me with "Sisters by Heart", and each piece she's given me is a treasure because they have meaning to both of us. The newest one that's been added is "Angel of Miracles" because I am the survivor of a brain aneurysm, and she is my reminder of life's everyday miracles. Thank you for a beautiful way to express what words cannot.

The year was 1987. Our nine-year-old son had just had his ear drums replaced at the University of Iowa Hospital. As I walked into his room I saw this Angel caring for her cystic fibrosis son. If I remember correctly she and her son had been there for months with no car - her care for him was constant. For two days I watched her patiently wait til he finished his meal - only to eat what remained. She never complained the entire time I was there.

I will never forget her telling me that she had a six-month-old baby girl at home - also with cystic fibrosis - and how sad she was that she would never become a grandma.
Nathaniel passed away on October 23, 1998.
His sister Ashley Elizabeth is a recent college graduate; married to a wonderful guy named Mark; and is teaching vocal music.

Linda and I have been remained friends since those days in 1987. We haven't seen each other (we live too far apart) but we communicate frequently.

I just received not only "Surrounded by Love" but "Sisters by Heart" for my birthday/Mother's day. Nothing could mean more to me because we have "a treasured frienship of sharing and understanding."

Linda, I hope when you read this you will know just how much I cherish our friendship and just how much I will cherish the Willow Trees that you sent! You mean the world to me!!

I was given my first figurine, Angel of Mine, for my birthday, right after my son was born. I love it because even though it has no face, you can still see affection and love. Since then I have recieved more. After my grandmother passed away, I got her the Comfort plaque. As a Christmas gift, I got Sisters by Heart and for my first wedding anniversary I recieved Promise from my husband. I continue to love these figurines. The warmth that comes from them, and the love that came from the people who gave them to me are never forgotten. I now want to get some of the family oriented ones for my husband and myself, and I continue to give them as gifts. They are a great ways to send love without words.

In August 2009 I found out I had a sister who is 10 years older than me, a daughter that my mom had given up for adoption 55 years ago. When we met for the first time one month later, she gave me the most beautiful gift of the "Chrysalis." I have been giving Willow Tree figures to special people ever since, the first of which was to give my sister the "Sisters by Heart" figurine. I have started a collection for myself and my two daughters ages seven and twelve, because they have so much meaning to me!

My best friend and have been best friends for 18 years. She is and was always there for me through thick and thin. I introduce her as my adopted sister and her daughter as my adopted niece; my parents even introduce them in that way I love it. On Christmas 2009, my best friend and I exchanged gifts. I opened my gift and she opened her gift from me and the funniest most memorable thing we both bought each other the Sisters by Heart Willow Tree. She never heard of Willow Tree until my mom told her about them and her first purchase was the same as mine. I have my Sisters by Heart Willow Tree sitting next to my Willow Tree Nativity set. Oh what a memory!

I was always extremely close to my best friend Krista. We could look at each other and know exactly what one another were feeling or thinking. We could finish each others sentences most times and shared almost everything and every moment together. Krista was diagnosed with cancer when she was 17. We went through many ups and downs throughout her battle. I gave her the Sisters by Heart figurine during one of her stays in the hospital. It truly symbolizes our friendship. Though not related by blood she always and forever will be my sister. After a long and difficult battle she lost her life to the disease. I received the Sisters by Heart back. Every time I look at the figurine I get tears in my eyes remembering the most amazing connection and love I have ever had. She was an extremely loving, compassionate friend that lived her life with incredible passion and courage. She never gave up the fight even when it was close to the end. Thank you for your wonderful art that expresses so much meaning and thoughtfulness in the gifts I can share with others. It truly represents them and the milestones in their lives and my own.

After a year long battle with cancer, my sister-in-law passed away the day after Thanksgiving, 2009. I knew she had shopped for Christmas gifts for her grandchildren. I was surprised to see a gift from her to me. I was brought to tears when I opened this beautiful figurine. We were always friends, but now I knew that she thought of me as her sister.

During a family gathering, celebrating Christmas, 2009, my baby sister presented me with a gift. She was so excited, and insisted that I open it right away. Inside were the Sisters by Heart figurines, and my eyes welled up in tears, because I often wondered if she really knew and understood just how much I love her and how truly proud I am of her. The answer came in the form of this beautiful figurine, and the answer is YES!

My eldest sister and I have always been close. In 2006 we had a huge quarrel that separated us. I tried to make peace with her, but for six months I went about my life with no word from her. Then one day I received a package in the mail. When I opened it I was shocked to find the “Sisters by Heart” figurines with a letter from my sister. She asked me to forgive her for letting pride come between us, and requested that if I forgave her to mail back one of the figurines so that we would each have one to hold. I called her and we settled our differences. Now, when I look at that figurine I think about my sister and I know that we will always be “Sisters by Heart".

I moved away from my home country for a time, and found the distance and adjustment very difficult. I was away for my birthday. My sister bought me the Sisters by Heart ornament and had me take it away with me when I went, and told me that if I got too lonely I could open it early. I did. It was a huge comfort, I love it. I'm still away from home, and the ornament sits beside my bed. Sisters are amazing.
